You gotta' give the lady credit, at least she is literate and articulate. The hate emails I got were badly mispelled. And I had to call him to task for being so rude. This one at least has some merit. Although, she is badly entrenched in the JW mindset. Just my opinion.

Joel, This is WAYYYYYYYYY COOL!!
I will try not to bore everyone too much!
1. I was born and raised in Middletown, PA. To JW parents. Seriously.
2. I was born November 26, 1959. On Thanksgiving. My father said he had a turkey, because I weighed 9'13 oz.
3. I am the oldest. I have three younger brothers. Two are still in the org. one never got baptized.
4. I pioneered regularly for eight years and auxiliary pioneered for many more. What a waste.
5. I was in an abusive marriage for almost seventeen years. He left me, the elders blamed me.
6. Five led to me leaving the org. in June of 2000. Almost the best thing I ever did.
7. The best thing I ever did, was marry Thinker!! We met online. Met in person ten days later. I moved in on our first date. Six days later he asked me to marry him. I said yes. June of 2000 we were married! It is a joy and a treasure every day that we are together. Just gets better!!
8. I never had children because of my situation. I now have a thirteen year old step-daughter. She is great!
9. Decorating is my passion.
10. I have my own cleaning business. Just me. Since 1979. -

Being Popular
by Stephanus ini know what it is to be popular.
well, to be totally honest, i know what it is to be unpopular, and i know that it feels really bad.
i therefore assume that being popular would feel really good!

Stephanus,
I am so sorry to hear that you were feeling blue!
I know that feeling. When I was in the org. a lot of things like the things you mentioned happened to me. It can really shred your self-esteem. And it takes many years to over come that.
It is kind of weird that you posted this. Yesterday I was driving down the road and a song came on the radio. It was a song by Kim Carnes. IMO, she sound a lot like Rod Stewart. Many years ago a couple (I called them one of the "Pretty People" moved into my cong.) I was thrilled, because my ex and I had been pretty much pioneering by ourselves, and that in itself was depressing. One day in FS that song came on the radio and the "Pretty People" were in the car. I said something about how talented Rod Stewart was "Pretty People's" wife caustically remarked that basically I was an idiot and that wasn't Rod Stewart. This happened probably ten years ago, driving down the road yesterday, all that anger and hurt I felt came rushing back. Even though I am so very happy now, and have plenty of friends who care about me genuinely.
I guess damage to our phsyke just takes a lot of time to heal!
Take care, my friend!!

Exodus,
Hugs and bravo to you!! I wish I had had the nerve and stamina that you have.
I still have waves of anger sometimes, and wish I could do more to help those still in!
People like you are true heroes!!

Heresy of the Month
by thinker inheresy of the month (from a website).
don't you hate it when someone you know comes up with some new thing that you have never heard about?
you sit there in apparent ignorance as they pontificate about the proofs and merits of some idea so far beyond common knowledge that it can only be revealed by people of exceptional enlightenment such as they.

I Never BELONGED in the BORG, Did You?
by BoozeRunner inin recent years, i have come to the realization that i never really beonged in the wts.
you see, i was born into the religion, so therefore it was all i ever knew.
but as i have examined my inner self, i realize that i simply dont have what it takes to be a witness.

Absolutely!! I find this out more and more the longer I am out! I just never fit in. I was always a free spirit, and it brought the elders ire down on my head many times! I couldn't handle judging people and categorizing them.
And some of the doctrines bothered me too, although I kept that to myself. And the amount of abuse in the org. always bothered me as well. Especially the way it was covered up.
Couldn't handle special treatment for some and others getting the shaft.
Alot of it just made no sense to me!

how have YOU changed since leaving?
by idaho init's obvious that the sense of freedom is a dominant.

So many great comments! And such commonality. Is commonality a word?
Lauralisa hit a few nails on the head:I truly enjoyed the preaching work, being stuck in a car totally wasting time - hours of it! with gossipy meddling intrusive boring people was my idea of hell.
The problem was that I could not abide the company of most of the people at the hall for more than a few minutes at a time. So, I had very little meaningful interaction with other human beings
am not continuously plagued by nagging guilt about what "more" or "less" of whatever I should be doing
All so true!!
I find true joy in everyday living. Seem to have more time to relax and take care of myself. Which makes it so much better for the people around me.
Entertaining new ideas and being heard!! What a wonderful feeling!

Is monogamy realistic?
by jonjonsimons indo you believe that humans are capable of complete sexual monogamy?.
i believe 100% emotional monogamy is obtainable, but i'm not sure about sexual monogamy.
does gender figure into the equation?

I think it depends on the level of commitment of both parties in the relationship.
Thinker and I are both, one person kind of people. I have noticed that the longer we are together, the less I even notice good looking men. That doesn't mean I am dead. Occasionally I still see a head turner!
In my first marriage though, I was completely unfufilled. I never had a full blown affair, but I certainly noticed men a lot more.
Thinker was faithful in his long term relationships as well.
I believe when a relationship fulfills both partners needs in every way, spiritually, emotionally, and physically, there is no need to look elsewhere.
